CBC's Game 3 intro
It would be difficult to select the best scenes from a show that had literally hundreds. But this one has to rank. As with most of the first five seasons, it was a perfect scene in a perfect episode. Brilliantly written, brilliantly acted. How I long for a presidential candidate like Josiah Bartlett.
We can all gush about how deep and heartwarming this scene is, with Bartlett giving Charlie a family heirloom that due to who made it is worth tens of thousands of dollars, and it is. But I'd like to point out in the middle of this, Bartlett still takes a moment to correct Charlie's grammar. "I'm giving mine away." "To who?" "Whom."
Masterclass cinematography.
Been out of a job for half a year now. Found myself watching this clip over and over again. Didn't know why but then realized it's this exact feeling of getting back on a job that I'm looking for. Sigh.
I love autism
Can I just add that the guy playing Ron Washington was absolute gold in this movie?
"Whoever scouted tejada, chavez, zito, Hudson, and mulder dererves a raise!"
I had an uncle who did something like that to me. My uncle Ernie. He was a bastard but so damned smart and so ready to twist my nose when ever he had a chance. But he did treat me like a son. And I loved him. And I love him to this day…. He let me read so many of his books.
I don't know baseball, why are playing at the different bases different skillsets? The catcher obviously has a different job.
Why is Gus here?
Seriously though, leaving aside the sentimental value, and the meaning behind the gift, just the actual financial value a knife like that would have!
2:18 most hilarious interference 😆 🤣 😂
Bob costas mentioned
My father got a 1942 M1 Garand as his service weapon from the Navy and amongst us 3 children, I've requested that as a keepsake in the inheritance after he passes. It's a WW2 antique. Charlie got an 18th century artifact from one of the most famous American heroes, and has deep family significance to the Bartlets. I swear, if Charlie and Zoe didn't end up together, the just kill Doug and have Charlie marry the eldest daughter.
Last time I saw someone answer the door that late they found out what happens when you find someone in the Alps
its crazy how he was better offensively significantly after signing with the A's
A 20 game winning streak kind of runs counter to the entire point of the movie.
This scene is like small Rocky Balboa story.😊
This is Good Stuff. The fact that we keep re-watching TWW with a soft spot in our hearts says that here in 2024 there are many who yearn for a Leader of the caliber of Jed Bartlett.
don't forget to put your console at (60) FPS if the TV is not capable
It's not every day someone casually gives you something more valuable than anything else you own.
Fantastic scene
This Billy Beane isn’t dead, it was another Billy Bean.
I forgot that Pratt played Scott Hatteberg. He looks so young.
Redo the West Wing. Sam Seaborn as POTUS and Charlie Young as Chief of Staff.
I love this movie so fucking much
You just know his wife probably woke his daughter up to say hi to daddy in order to gain sympathy during his interview. Wife is made of wife material.
The A's liked Scott so much that they hired him as a special assistant to baseball operations. He still has that job today.
We A's fans loved Scott he was ok at first but solid and consistent at the plate. in the post season he hit .286 with a .434 OBP. He was always nice to the fans and cool to talk to. He really appreciated his baseball life. To Beanes credit they rewarded Scott as he made 6.5 million total in the next 3 years. At the end of his career he played with the Reds and up until his last year he was good. Then he just couldn't hit anymore.
My fav scene in the movie ❤
That is my favourite scene ❤
He said Thank you Sir in the end.. Not Thank you Mr. President. Subtle differences.. What a show..
When I watch this scene I'm reminded of being at the Windsor Casino on New Years Eve. I sat at a table and watched a man sobbing uncontrollaby after he just landed a straight flush in Let It Ride. It was a huge 6 figure payout. When everyone at the table learned he was just layed-off from Ford Motor company that day we all teared-up as well.
1:33 the look in Charlie’s eyes puts tears in mine
Incredible, INCREDIBLE scene.
Great direction in this scene. Not a word is said to establish the Hattebergs are worried about money, and they may have just had a desperate conversation over it. The young girl sneaking out of bed may have been "planted" by Scott's wife to let Beane and Wash know they're a family that needs another chance. She's silently lobbying for her husband to have a job. Beane doesn't want to engage in mundane talk about having kids, though -- he's there strictly on business, and he's not seeking credit for bringing good news and doesn't want to be seen as a savior. Nearly every scene in this movie plays like this, paying great attention to silence and body language.
In less than a month, the Oakland Athletics will be history…😢
Never noticed until now the little reindeer sound before he gets the call.
Eyes on me billy. Eyes on me😂
One of the greatest scenes of the series!
Love this part! it applies to Men of all ages.
This show was such high quality
Great scene. Yeah maybe I can teach one of them, classic
RIP BILLY BEAN.
That man was just handed a christmas miracle.
The metaphorical sleigh bells. As if Santa has just pulled up outside
Came here after hearing about Billy’s death. Dude changed the game
Such nuance that I keep catching each time I watch. Like the slight wince Hatteberg gives at 1:04.
The Meeting Never Happened It Was Over Phone
RIP Billy
